One is running at the XY Gallery in Guangzhou until Aug 16. The other will open at Beijing's Ying Space on July 8 and run through Sept 8.

The two shows trace the emergence of Chinese abstract art to the early 1980s, when the first generation of Chinese contemporary artists began to experiment with the style that was introduced from the West.

The shows look back on the group members' respective life journeys, including their years working at home and abroad to enrich their artistic languages.
