Woman abandoned as more girls foreseen

A migrant worker was abandoned by her boyfriend
after giving birth to a daughter because a fortune teller said the baby would
bring "three more sisters", reports Yangcheng Evening News.
Li, a native of Henan Province, met her boyfriend, Ye, while working in
Dongguan.
After she gave birth to a daughter in April, Ye's parents consulted a fortune
teller. They were greatly upset to learn that the baby's birth forecast three
more sisters before a brother would be born.
When Ye failed to convince Li to give away the baby, he tossed 5,000 yuan
(US$602) at her and left, Li said.
The woman tried twice to reason with Ye, who is now working in Taishan, to no
avail. She filed a complaint with the women's federation, which has promised to
make Ye pay Li child support until their daughter turns
16.
