British Prime Minister Tony Blair said he was "touched" after a seven-year-old girl in Scotland sent him a letter urging him not to be "bullied" into resigning from office.
Kathleen Sandeman, from Dundee, told Blair not tostand downas leader because he was "the best" and was being pushed into doing so by people who were "not kind".
"It was a lovely letter and I was really touched," Blair said. His Downing Street office had already sent a reply to the youth.
Earlier last month, Blair publicly vowed to step down as prime minister by September 2007 after being faced by a rebellion within his own party calling for his resignation.
Sandeman's letter, sent last month according to the city's Evening Telegraph, read: "Please do not leave your job. I think you are the best and you are being bullied by people who are not kind."
"We are told at school to report bullies to the teacher. If you like, I will tell my teacher about you. She is kind, her name is Miss McKay.
"Bad things happen in the world and I know you help sort them. You are kind and helpful and always do your best.
"I do not want your job, I want to be a vet and help animals."
The young girl had decided to write the letter after watching the news on television. Her father told the Evening Telegraph that his daughter was "over the moon" when her letter was acknowledged.

這個來自敦提的小女孩名叫凱瑟琳·桑德曼，她在信中勸布萊爾不要離任，因為他是“最棒的”，都怪那些“壞”人逼他這么做。
布萊爾說：“這是一封很真誠的信，我真的很感動?！笔紫噢k公室已經(jīng)給這個小女孩寫了回信。
布萊爾迫于工黨內(nèi)部一直要求他卸任的壓力，于上月初公開宣布他將在明年9月卸任，。
桑德曼的這封信于上個月寄出，敦提市的《電訊晚報》上刊登了信的內(nèi)容：“請您不要離任，我覺得您是最棒的，都怪那些壞人欺負(fù)您。”
“在學(xué)校，我們都是向老師舉報那些愛欺負(fù)人的同學(xué)，如果您愿意，我可以把您的情況告訴我的老師。她是個好老師，她的名字叫麥凱。”
“世界上總發(fā)生一些讓人不開心的事，我知道您一直在為此努力，您是個好人，熱心人，而且總是盡自己的全力?！?/p>
“將來我并不想像您一樣做首相，我想當(dāng)個獸醫(yī)，幫助動物?！?/p>
這個小女孩是在看了電視上的相關(guān)新聞后，決定給布萊爾寫這封信的，他爸爸告訴《電訊晚報》，當(dāng)他的女兒得知信已經(jīng)收到，簡直是“欣喜若狂”。
